As JoJo’s battle with her label Blackground rages on over the release of her ‘All I Want Is Everything’ album, a new cut presumed to be for the recording sessions for the LP has surfaced. ‘Forever In My Life’ is mid-tempo R&B/Pop fusion, with a great vocal performance turned in by the 18 year old. That said, there’s not much to scream about with this one. Album track, at best.

While UK siren Jade Ewen currently preps the promotional push for her official first single ‘My Man’, the follow-up single ‘Punching Out’ surfaced today. Said to also serve as the name of her debut album, ‘Punching Out’ is an anthemic R&B/Pop cut, much in the vein of Beyonce’s ‘Irreplaceable’. I like.

A new Beyonce cut titled ‘Poison’ surfaced today as part of DJ Haze’s mixtape ‘Big R&B Ego’; I say new, however, it is not known for which album this was recorded for potential placement. Anyway, about the track; put simply the slow jam is best summed up as ‘blah’, ‘just there’, ‘uninspired’ – you get where I’m going with this.
Judging from many of the Bouncy non-album tracks we’ve heard to date, I guess it’s safe to say that Bey and her team have a knack for picking the right tracks to feature on her albums. As more times than not she delivers the goods with her LP’s and singles.
Kelly Rowland Performs ‘Like This’ In Romania

Taking a break from the recording of her 3rd studio album, Kelly Rowland performed a special set in Romania’s famed Club Bamboo recently. Revisiting some of her past hits on stage, the 28 year old also gave a live rendition of her 2007 smash ‘Like This’, which you can watch above. Despite the venue not being the grandest, this is perhaps one of Ms. Kelly’s best live renditions of the song to date IMO. The vocals were on-point and her stage presence was sky-high. Great performance.

Mariah Carey Performs ‘Obsessed’ On America’s Got Talent

Mariah Carey’s first televised performance of new single ‘Obsessed’ aired last night on NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent’ After seeing the amateur footage of the performance earlier this week (and not thinking it half-bad), I was anticipated the televised version coming across better. Oh how wrong I was. Stiff, uncomfortable, heavily backed vocally (so much so she may as well have been lip-synching) and flat out boring, this live showing was anything but ‘diva’ and really highlighted that Mariah is a shell of herself. One has to wonder; the show is called ‘America’s Got Talent’, where did all of Mariah’s talent go?

Jade Ewen – ‘My Man’ Video

The video for Jade Ewen’s official debut single ‘My Man’ premiered today. Shot in Los Angeles, the clip manages to do what’s required of it – essentially compliment the song well. However, for an uptempo banger like this, I was expecting a lot more in the way of choreography and overall sassiness.

New Song: Amerie – ‘Heard Em All’ (2nd Single)

The second single to be lifted from Amerie’s ‘In Love & War’ LP, ‘Heard Em All’, surfaced today – and I’m glad to say it’s a winner. Produced by Eric Hudson and penned by Sean Garrett, the uptempo cut relies heavily on African drums and a haunting tribal-call sounding hook from Amerie. Frantic, fierce and future hit written all over, this is everything ‘Why R U’, as the album’s lead single, should have been. Hearing this definitely restores my faith in the project.

The very public spat between Mariah Carey and Eminem continues to escalate, with the Detroit rapper dropping a new diss track aimed at Mariah titled ‘The Warning’. In what is a very interesting listen, ol’ Marshall goes all the off on Mimi. I guess he didn’t like the ‘Obsessed’ video, eh?

Shakira – ‘She Wolf’ Video

Shakira debuted the video for her much hyped new single ‘She Wolf’ today. Put simply, this was very much a hit and miss affair…although it did kinda win me over in the end. While Shakira oozes sex appeal here and really brings the song to life via the clip’s performance, it’s her ‘trademark’ moves that left me both hot and cold. There really wasn’t any middle ground; she either nailed the at-times awesome choreography or looked like she was having a seizure. Really though, some of that choreography was hot steaming mess. I’m kinda on the fence about the song too; the production is fire, but the vocals and the fact that I can barely understand a word she’s singing is by no means hot.
That said, for the simple fact I’ve seen no one these days bring the ‘uniqueness’ Shakira does to her performance, both she and the video (overall) get a thumbs up from me.
