Talking Staying with families

One of the highlights of staying at the Kerala Home Stay and small family owned properties are the special care and personal attention to all your holiday needs. There is no impersonal efficiency or restaurants or even timings – everything is very personal and you are the boss. Food is an important element of stay at these places – truly ethnic food is one of the reasons for such places to be favorites of many families coming to this part of the world. What are more you get an opportunity to join your hosts in the family kitchen to try your hand at cooking and taking away many family ‘secrets’ coming down generations. Home stays and these special places also give ample opportunity to roam around at will in the rural ambience among truly welcoming people of the villages – enjoying their company, mingling with them in celebrating their festivals and even joining them at their daily chores like farming.

Another piece the resistance of Kerala is the meandering rivers which criss-cross the state physique like blood veins. Besides, water bodies tucked away in thick forests also enhance the amazing beauty of the state. They fertilize the' land, turn waste into the wealth of the rich, black, alluvial soil on which the agrarian state thrive. The Periyar, Pamba, Manimala, Achenkovil, Meenachil and Moovattupuzha rivers drain into this lake. The other important backwaters are Veli, Kadhinam kulam, Anjengo, Edava, Nadayara, Paravoor. Kerala has over 25% of India's 15,000 plant species. Among them include endangered and rare species, flowering plants, fungies, lichens and mosses. The state's forest wealth include tropical wet evergreen, semi-green and tropical most deciduous. Teak, Mahagoney, Rosewood and Sandalwood are common, the forests abound with orchids, anthirium, balsam, and medicinal plants. banyan figs, bamboo as well as 40,000 years old grasslands. Mangroves are seen in coastal areas and low, morass lands. So fertile is the state, thanks to rivers and dams that are replenished by copious rain in Western Ghats.

La Paloma Guest House was where we stayed and experienced a real vacation: Relaxed, Ate Authentic Food, Listened to the Sounds of Nature, Absorbed the Beauty and Theraputic Sights and Sounds of Several Beaches, Experienced Natures Beauty in the Rain Forest, and met Friends that soon became our Extended Family that made this Vacation Real. Nilda is an excellent cook, she made us several fabulous Puerto Rican meals and was very accommodating making sure we had all we needed to make our stay comfortable. Mike and Johnny were very gracious in showing us around the island to experience the authentic culture, sights, adventure, and nightlife of Puerto Rico. Tiana, Tiffany, and Joey were such a pleasure to be around and were great company for our teenage son. The property was perfect for us. You have to understand that this is not a Grand Chain Resort but a rustic quaint guest house. The guest house we stayed in had everyting we needed: storage for all our items, kitchen table and chairs, coffee maker, fridge and freezer, oven, stovetop, microwave, plates, pots, pans, and utensils, tv with satelite connection, and large shower. Outside our unit was a fabulous pool and covered patio with an outstanding view of mountains and local town. We loved the location secluded yet close to sights. Our stay was five nights so we got to know our new friends very well and look forward to our next stay.
